BICHECTOMY

Buccal fat removal or also known as Bichectomy, is a procedure that has gained popularity in recent years due to its short-term results and rapid recovery. Bichectomy is an aesthetic facial procedure which consists of Bichat’s adipose bag remover, which is located in two fat compartments inside the cheeks. Do not worry, Bichat  bags are not essential for the body and your main one is for the first years of life chewing and sucking for babies. Bichectomy is a relatively easy alternative where the surgeon makes a small incision on the inside of the cheeks, near the fat bags, and once the surgeon localized, removes them and completes their extraction to then suture the wound. It is a quick procedure, which hardly lasts more than an hour to be completed.

The recovery can take up from 3 to 5 days, depending on the response of each person. During the first three days, a soft and cold diet is recommended, as well as avoiding and exposing yourself to the sun to avoid bleeding.

Once the bags are removed, the inflammation can be lost for 2-3 months, once the inflammation disappears the thinned face in the lower third of the face, giving a greater projection of the cheekbones and a more elongated appearance of the face.
